Our Herstory
Women's Peacepower Foundation,
Inc. was founded in
1998 as a vehicle to help in the tireless effort to bring peace to our homes, our
schools, our streets and to our world.
Peacepower makes
awards to grassroots projects that are working to impact issues of
violence against women and their children.
WHERE THERE IS PEACE, THERE IS TREMENDOUS POWER!
Our Mission
The Women's Peacepower Foundation, Inc. gives Women of Peace Awards to women and girls involved in grassroots projects who are working to bring peace to the everyday lives of women and their families. The majority of our awards are for activities that fall into two broad categories: violence against women and waging peace.
The
Women of Peace
Awards

to scores of

women around the
world who work

or recognition
for the universal
goal of peace,
fairness and true
justice within
the lives of
women and their
families.
Violence Against Women
Whether it comes in broad strokes - the rapes and beatings of thousands under the cover of war - or in staccato punches - a spouse or daughter subjected to the torture of a loved one - women and violence are two words which appear too often together across the ages and across cultures.
Peacepower funds projects that seek to reverse the forces that entrap women and their families into the spiral of pain and fear. We support programs that provide opportunities to speak out against the violence or create new solutions in helping those struggling with this shameful reality.
Teaching Peace
What should be as natural as breathing, unfortunately must be taught. Women and their children must have the opportunity to live in a violence-free world, with enough food to eat, and adequate shelter. Women deserve meaningful work that pays a living wage.
Peacepower awards activists in the US and other countries that:
